So this is how it startedThis painting of a young woman breastfeeding an old man in a prison cell was sold for Euros 30 million, breaking records as one of the most expensive paintings of late.
The painting may look perverse but the story behind it, touches the heart and soul, the painting from historical records has been trending lately. The poor old man seen in the picture was sentenced to "death by starvation" for stealing a loaf of bread during the reign of Louis XIV in France.
The woman seen breastfeeding him was his only daughter and the only visitor allowed to visit him in the cell. She was allowed to visit him daily but was frisked and thoroughly searched such that no food was taken in, not even water
When after 4 months of the man in prison, yet still survived with no weight loss and no malnourished, he did not die as expected, the prison authorities were perplexed and started spying on him in the cell
They also extended the search to her daughter each time she visit the man and to their utter astonishment, they found her breastfeeding the man ''her father to the fullest sharing her baby's milk.
The lady was arrested and was questioned only for the judges to then realize the compassion and love of the woman for her father, then decided to pardon the father and set him free. He was later released unconditionally and was asked to go home and unite with his family.
